This record will appeal to the classical crowd; a playful, romantic and buoyant album, ‘Chanson à La Lune’ showcases all the musical prowess Robert McGinty has to offer, collecting a whopping 14 pieces packed with luscious yet dynamic orchestral arrangements, ranging from the Christmas-esque ‘Ode to the Joyful Season’ to the more conventional and intricate ‘Springtime Minuet’, passing through cinematic, electronic-lenient and intense offering such as ‘The Stormy Sea Voyage to the Hebrides’.
Eventually, we get to one of the record’s highlights, title track ‘Chanson à La Lune’. Written for classic guitar and drenched in Spanish influences, the piece was namely inspired by the likes of John Williams and Julian Bream, guiding Robert McGinty towards one of the most eclectic compositions in the album.
Performed by McGinty himself, ‘Chanson à La Lune’ is the perfect soundtrack for an evening alone, drinking wine, or an elegant and unusual background for everyday living. Hailing from Manchester, the British creative does a great job, certainly expanding the musical horizon of some of his listeners. As he explains: “I wanted to create romantic uplifting and inspirational pieces of music, recreating the feel of classical and baroque music from the age of Mozart through to modern times but unique memorable but new pieces.”
