Welsh artistry is fierce these days. Public Order are the strongest evidence of that: pursuing a familiar yet authentic path into Britpop euphoria and indie sleaze, the British group seems to excel at anthemic choruses and expansive, substantial guitar tones. ‘Joker’ is their latest effort, and it doesn’t disappoint: introduced by a tame electric guitar and charged vocals, the track soon rises to the challenge, blossoming into an uplifting, nostalgic banger. We suspect it will come in handy for festival season.
Speaking of live shows, Public Order are currently on tour with fellow Welsh superstars Everyone You Know, alongside a string of spring dates around the UK. In March, they are also releasing an EP, ‘HELLO’, which can be pre-saved here.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Public Order explain: ‘Joker’ is a bittersweet snapshot of youth. It’s about living in the moment, embracing the chaos, the messiness, and the beautiful but fleeting moments. It’s the realisation that not everything is meant to last, and that’s okay.”
