‘Treading Water’ is the brand spanking new single from Los Angeles-based songwriter and producer Will Dailey, who is better known simply as DALE. Described by the artist as “easily the most ‘rock’ song I’ve released thus far”, ‘Treading Water’ sees DALE produce a gritty, alternative, indie-rock banger that just gets better and better with each listen. The chorus is as infectious and catchy as you could ever hope to hear, as the musician lets loose, completely uninhibited and free.
A coming-of-age track that is ultimately about struggling to find one’s way in their early-to-mid twenties, Dailey draws on inspiration from bands like The Cure, Tame Impala, Weezer, and singer/songwriter Jon Bellion. It’s his ability, however, to blend genres and sounds so effortlessly, that sets him apart from the rest as far as I am concerned. A unique, authentic, and genuine soundscape has been created – and we are very much here for it!
DALE states that ‘Treading Water’ is “probably the most honest song” that he has ever written. At the end of the day, I think that’s what it’s all about. Wearing your heart on your sleeve, creating something true to yourself, and standing by it proudly. We cannot wait to hear DALE’s debut EP next year!
