The latest offering by ‘American Visionary Duo’ Friend of a Friend, ‘beautiful ppl’ moves the project closer and closer to maximum hazyness. Yes, it’s sort of dreamy, but it’s also rather haunting and gloomy, fully delving into the pair’s more alternative, leftfield side. Part of the duo’s upcoming album ‘Desire!’, expected in April, the single has the very particular mission of preparing the listeners for Friend of a Friend’s boldest record to date.
In fact, the album was put together in a rented Airbnb mansion, which then turned out to be one of America’s most haunted places. Such tension and intensity did inform the music, and ‘beautiful ppl’ partly carry that energy too. Diving deep into fuzzy indie territories, the Chicago-based pair pens an eclectic, dynamic offering, one that has caught our attention once again.
