Boasting colossal, intricate beats reminiscent of British dance duo Overmono, ‘When It’s Over’ is a rather towering effort, a slice of luscious cathartic energy and anthemic melody, all at the service of nuanced sound design and leftfield electronica. Penned by rising producer and holistic creative MKSTN, ‘When It’s Over’ also benefits from spacious, hazy vocals, perfectly complementing the single’s monumental aura, and increasing the intensity and hypnotising factor to a hundred.
Described as “exploring themes of love, technology, duality and time” by the Canadian artist himself, ‘When It’s Over’ lasts only about three minutes, and it feels like a fever dream, a heavy moment of escapism and reckoning. Did it even happen? Or was it just our imagination?
We’ll leave the judgment to the reader. What’s important is that we can easily repeat the experience.
