Mahto & The Loose Balloons Unveil New, Relatable Album

A truly personal, nuanced record, ‘Knock Knock It’s The Loose Balloons’ is part traditional, part contemporary. Dealings in guitar-powered, Folk-esque extravaganza with an added energy kick, the album is built on its lyrical relevance, serving as an expressive outlet for its author, Mahto Addison-Browder. Releasing his work through the Mahto & The Loose Balloons moniker, the American musician provides a stark, yet playful depiction of his own dealings, all drenched in cathartic and meaningful storytelling.

Written as a reaction and a ‘steam valve’ for Mahto’s attempt to buy a house and set up a mortgage, ‘Knock Knock It’s The Loose Balloons’ is a relatively simple, straightforward body of work. Recorded in a few takes – as explained by the American creative – the songs find all their charisma in the project’s wonderful, authentic lyricism, something that we are confident will connect with a large audience out there – especially if you are into the likes of Tom Waits and Neil Young. Approachable music, for approachable men and women.

Delving deep into the inspiration behind the record, Addison-Browder reiterates: “I was trying to buy my house at the time. The banks were jerking me around and making me jump through all sorts of hoops. Mostly because I’m poor and the house, which I was already living in, is not a traditional home. It got me thinking about other people’s homes and the storylines that pass through them. The stress and teeth grinding were taking a toll. So this was my outlet”.
