Entering Julia Logan’s artistic universe means getting familiar with her evocative brand of dreamy, folk-pop matter, further enriched by her elegant, mellow vocals and the most tender, heartwarming melodies you have ever heard. ‘Throw Down’ is the strongest evidence of that. Both gentle and resolute, the song is introduced by Logan’s stunning tone and gentle acoustic guitar. Later on, it blooms into something majestic, a slice of heavenly energy and sonic freedom that’s as hypnotising as it is empowering.
The steel guitar addition gives the record a veiled country flair, something we are not complaining about. And to tell you the truth, ‘Throw Down’ is actually quite eclectic, perhaps thanks to the expertise and support of co-producer and co-writer Daniel Bengtson (Studio Rymden, First Aid Kit). Hailing from Sweden, Logan has recently released an extended version of her latest album ‘Faraway Nearby’. ‘Throw Down’ is a welcome addition to an already impressive tracklist.
