Underdose Reveal Hard-Hitting Latest Album ‘TILT’

Constantly evolving their sound, Underdose are not your average metal outfit. Boasting incredible eclecticism and a keen flair for experimentation, the Slovakian group proudly walks the fine thread between dynamic hardcore punch and heavier sludge metal distortions. The result is a highly compelling sonic imprint, a character that helps the band remain fierce and heavy, while also maintaining a certain relatable and welcoming character, especially when it comes to their vocals. The additions of electronic textures make their formula rather modern.

‘TILT’ is the perfect evidence of that. Underdose’s latest offering, the album contains seven impressive tracks, each one sharing a common trait and yet revealing something new about the project. Unironically, we should start from the end, with ‘Impending’ getting lost in a sea of dark, gloomy guitar textures and abstract soundscapes. It’s a fitting end to a stark, vivid listening experience, one that opens with the furious ‘Intrinsic Scope’. ‘Fake Eyelashes’ instead feels expansive and melancholic, perhaps containing a high emotional charge.

‘Senseless Blackness’ is a wonderful example of how slow tempo and metal go together very well. The piece is immensely dystopian and weird, yet we couldn’t stop listening to it. Speaking about the inspiration behind the album, Underdose explain: “It explores bleak lyrical themes of human mortality, physical and emotional frailty, alienation and perseverance.”
