Moving with purpose and authenticity, Himana’s lyricism is certainly relatable. Writing about universal themes of love, loss and in general about the tremendous depth of human behaviours, the Californian songstress also champions pure, unfiltered authenticity, opening her heart to keen listeners. ‘P.O.V.’ is the perfect evidence of that: describing a painful friendzone-style situation, the song outlines the ways Himana went out of her way to get close to a particular person, to no avail.
Steeped in luscious, vaporous R&B, ‘P.O.V’ also shares a certain nostalgic character, a trait that wraps the project in elegance and meaningfulness. Himana’s evocative vocals are the cherry on the cake, moving with incredible dynamism and lightness – almost dancing on the instrumental. Furthermore, the single is taken from the American creative’s ‘SELF’ EP, originally released in November 2024.
Speaking in-depth about the inspiration behind the track, Himana explains: “This song was about a tiny crush I had that didn’t feel so little at the time that I wrote it. This person gave me many mixed signals and frustrated me for clearly treating me more like a friend, but never making an official move. Throughout the song, I repeat ‘Look at what you’ve done’, referring to the feelings they planted in me because of their behaviour.”
