There’s a reason why global tastemakers are going crazy for Canadian indie-rock hero Housewife. Boasting a fuzzy, slightly lo-fi character, the talented creative constantly oscillates between melancholia and euphoria, penning songs that feel uplifting and empowering, yet painful and packed with gravitas. The sonic picture is equally convincing, with post-punk and indie influences taking a very contemporary, fresh direction.
‘Work Song’ is Housewife’s latest effort, a stunning single that’s bound to build even more hype for the project’s upcoming EP, ‘Girl Of The Hour’, set for release on March 7th via Submarine Cat Records. Electrifying and playful, the track showcases yet again the irresistible force behind the Canadian outfit’s rich artistry.
Speaking about the single, Housewife explains: “‘Work Song’ is about feeling unsatisfied with yourself and where you’re going. I have really high expectations of myself but also have really unhealthy habits so I oscillate between being a workaholic and being burnt out. I wanted to poke fun at myself, while still processing it as a valid issue in my life. This song is for anyone else out there with executive functioning issues who sometimes feel like a hot mess.”
