Dima Midborn Returns with Disco-Infused Anthem ‘Cher Vivo’

Dima Midborn has been the cool guy on the block for a while now. Exploring the recent resurgence of darkwave and nostalgic retro tones, the Belgrade-based musician and songwriter has been releasing a number of impressive leftfield pieces with distinct minimalist components. Now, Midborn returns with his latest effort, a charming and groovy gem delving into disco and avant-funk.

Titled ‘Cher Vivo’, the record brings a breath of fresh air to Midborn’s catalogue, yet still remains in familiar territories. The 80s-flavoured drum machine completely dominates the track, supporting Dima’s lo-fi, gloomy vocals, here delivered with a prominent playful character. Overall, the song is incredibly catchy and hypnotising, in line with the hazy nature of Midborn’s nuanced artistry.

Speaking about ‘Cher Vivo’, the talented creative explains: “I worked on the track myself. Andrey Bessonov played the bass clarinet, Viktor Glazunov recorded the congas remotely, and Ilya Dmitriev played a Jupiter 8 double – probably the most expensive bass ever featured in one of my tracks. I mixed the track, and Flaty did the mastering. The cover art was created by an esteemed artist and designer Yuri Stepantsev.”
