We live in an era of hyper-polished music, a time of colossal walls of sounds and electronic extravaganza. It’s all very interesting, yet often we find ourselves looking for simplicity, for pure, authentic musical flair with a soothing message. What better than the evergreen voice plus acoustic guitar combo? Dan Arwady knows something about it, showcasing his evocative, elegant tone over a nostalgic, ballad-esque gem that’s as relatable as it is inspiring.
Recorded with the help of fellow vocalist Cassie Annunziata, and featuring musicians Harry Griffin and Chloé Mendola, ‘Somebody Else’ is everything we were expecting. A cathartic, honest jewel, packed with earthy strings and nuanced guitar tones. Taking a cue from last year’s EP ‘Keeping Time’, Arwady continues on the same acoustic theme, also recording a stunning live session in the process – available now on Youtube (and down below).
Hailing from the Bay Area, Arwady has made music his life calling – not a surprise, given the amount of talent he has to offer. Speaking about the creative process behind ‘Someobody Else’, he explains: “We recorded Somebody Else mostly live-in-the-studio, with very few overdubs. The goal was to capture the authenticity of a live performance, and to really let the emotion in the lyrics shine through.”
