Alwyn Morrison Debuts with Relatable Gem ‘The City’

Offering an unfiltered, honest tribute to New York City – the “city that will break your heart” – emerging creative Alwyn Morrison shares a tale that’s perhaps too familiar for many of us working in the music industry. Evoking the obligatory move to the ‘big creative hub’, armed with a suitcase full of hopes and dreams, the NYC-based singer-songwriter puts himself on the map, unveiling his debut effort ‘The City’.

Apart from the relatable and nostalgic lyrical theme, the record is drenched in a vibrant and uplifting rock-pop livery, the perfect match for Morrison’s dynamic and catchy vocals, here delivered with tons of charisma and confidence. The chorus is particularly memorable, showcasing Alwyn’s simple yet hard-hitting songwriting character. Teaming up with notable industry figures, such as producers Michael Carey (Gwen Stefani) and composer Michael Kooman (Patti LuPone), Morrison has effectively poised the cornerstone to a potentially bright career.

Boasting a successful past as a music journalist, the American singer is obviously well-versed in all things music – looking forward to discovering more about his artistry.  Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘The City’, Morrison explains: “This song is a direct reference to New York City, where I live, but it is really about any city, or any place, where someone feels like they belong there, and don’t, at the same time.”
