German Songstress Marie Bothmer Dissect a Breakup in ‘Raketendicht’

We like to keep an eye on the European music scene, and as such we are proud to showcase a very, very talented young lady emerging from the industrious German lands: Marie Bothmer. Currently enjoying a sharp rise in popularity, the stylish songstress has recently unveiled ‘Raketendicht’, a catchy and melancholic gem packed with charisma and creative sonic solutions.

Drenched in a stunning electronic production, haunting and fierce yet still tender and vibrant, ‘Raketendicht’ benefits from Bothmer’s evocative, heartfelt vocals, here delivered with a certain nonchalance. The hooks in the chorus are a huge standout, marking the single as an incredible piece. We don’t speak German, but we’ll be listening to it: we are cool like that.

Delving into the meaning behind ‘Raketendicht’, Marie explains: “I originally wrote ‘Raketendicht’ for my girlfriend, who was going through a breakup and I wanted to show her with such harsh words as calling him ‘scumbag’ that it’s okay to be angry with him. But also that it’s okay to grieve and cry and somehow want to go back to him.”
