It’s been a busy period for Americana heroes Trickshooter Social Club. Following up on last year’s ‘Better Than Love’, the Chicago-based outfit now returns with ‘Television’, a meaningful, nostalgic anthem aimed at celebrating the small, fleeting moments that make family and life so worthwhile. It’s nothing out of the ordinary for the talented group, which has made a habit out of heartfelt songwriting and relatable lyricism.
‘Television’ continues on the same theme, seemingly inspired by a recent loss suffered by a band member. Such a painful occurrence sparks a journey of reckoning related to making the most out of the limited time we have, especially with people in our family we might take for granted. Cherishing the little things, that’s the key. Such a stark ethos is layered upon an eclectic arrangement, bordering southern rock’n’roll and alt-country flavourings (cue the obligatory harmonica).
Speaking about the single, Trickshooter Socials Club explain: “‘Television’, inspired by the passing of a band member’s father, is a meditation on the fragility and the grace of the small moments that actually make a life. It’s about fireworks in southern Indiana. It’s about dancing in the kitchen. It’s about a touch on the cheek in a hospital room when the inevitable is all around us. It’s about fairytales and television and how nothing ever really dies if you believe.”
