His energy is almost prophetical, hypnotising the keen listener into intense storytelling and relatable lyricism. 2024 has been a strong debut year for the London-based rapper, jumping from ‘The Language’ to his latest effort ‘Damaged’, released on Christmas day. The track itself is very catchy and dynamic, with a bouncy, playful groove that’s a joy to listen to.
SEYVYUH’s sharp vocals and cathartic flow are the real stars of the show; the British talent boasts some of the best rap lyricism we have heard in a while, a sign that he might be up for a strong career. On ‘Damaged’, he’s joined by fellow artist jelly and recording engineer dmystic, the perfect combo of creatives for such a stunning piece. Determination is the key word here: SEYVYUH knows how to work hard and get things done.
From a lyrical standpoint, ‘Damaged’ takes a stark look at the unpredictability of existence. As the young rapper explains: “It’s about the duality of life, how it can go different ways and turn out a way u didn’t expect.” Perhaps he’s at this crossroads himself; judging by the quality of his music, we expect the outcome to be pretty positive.
