Reverted Return with Gloomy Single ‘Beyond the Labyrinth’

The keen reader might remember London-based metal and hard rock outfit Reverted from a feature we published in March 2024, celebrating ‘No Sympathy’ as “a slice of fierceness and hard-hitting darkness”. Such a striking statement rings true even today, with the British group releasing their latest effort, ‘Beyond the Labyrinth’. The script is pretty much the same, although with a heightened sense of charisma and a gloomier outlook.

Drenched in an old-school metal livery, ‘Beyond the Labyrinth’ still contains melodious, clear vocals, perfectly at home among the punchy, rolling drum parts and the distorted guitars. A sprinkle of gothic strings helps accentuate the record’s overall melancholic energy. From a songwriting standpoint, the single is actually pretty deep and nuanced, offering Reverted’s take on addiction and its intricacies.

The listening experience is not for the faint of heart: the talented band charges every note and every lyric with an underlying sense of gravitas, initiating five minutes of fearless descent into human nature’s most depressed and challenging corners. Lucky for us, it’s just a song, but for some out there, it’s a reality – a labyrinth that’s hard to escape.
