Kelsie Kimberlin Inspires Resistance and Resilience in ‘Walking Away’

It’s always interesting to observe Kimberlin’s artistic output. A Ukrainian-American creative, the talented songstress has been particularly active in the last few years, highlighting the immense suffering endured by her motherland in the conflict with neighbouring Russia. Using music to showcase themes of resilience and resistance, Kelsie now returns with the latest chapter in her Ukraine-themed body of work.

‘Walking Away’ is particularly poignant and melancholic in that respect, a tender, yet gloomy ballad with a hidden layer of hope and willingness to change. Built over an elegant orchestral arrangement and a powerful cinematic character, ‘Walking Away’ once again puts Kimberlin’s meaningful vocals to the forefront, wrapping the listeners into a cathartic, spiritual artistic experience.

The single also features a stunning and striking music video, directed by Kelsie herself and filmed while she was in Kyiv, Ukraine, while on another endeavour: a full-length feature about Ukrainian resistance and resilience, in collaboration with film director Pavlo Khomiuk. Speaking about the song, Kimberlin explains: “After decades in an abusive and toxic relationship, Ukraine walked away, yet the abuser cannot let go.”
