There’s a heartfelt sense of tenderness and ethereal energy in ‘Invisible Clockworks’. Packed with three unforgettable pieces, the EP constantly oscillates between deep house, dreamy electronica and veiled cinematic textures. It even has a light trance flavouring from time to time. Penned by Canadian producer and creative Gizm0, the album borders leftfield territories, potentially appealing both to the mainstream and alternative crowds.
Echoing the likes of Four Tet and Bonobo – but also creative heroes such as Fatima Yamaha and Fred Again – ‘Invisible Clockworks’ opens with the ever-evolving gem ‘Don’t Let Me Be Alone’. Featuring dazzling samples of female vocals, the track is an absolute banger, incredibly evocative and meaningful. ‘Waves of Starlight’ follows pretty much the same recipe, while ‘Tear In Your Eye’ is slightly more vintage and punchier.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the EP, the Montreal-based talent explains: “The title Invisible Clockworks refers to the unseen mechanisms in nature – the Sun, Moon, and tides – that inspire awe and beauty. It’s also a metaphor for the way the elements in my songs work together to capture a listener’s attention and create a connection.”
