Immerse Yourself in Grip the Raven’s Smashing Single ‘Peace of Mind’

I understand how vital a social media presence can be these days when trying to grow one’s “brand”. At the same time, however, there’s something I can nostalgically appreciate and respect about a band just saying “Screw that, here’s our music, what do you think?”

With this in mind, allow me to introduce you to Grip the Raven, a Philadelphia-based duo comprised of brothers Marc and Todd Taylor. In September last year, the pair released their debut self-titled album, and today I’d like to hone in on the record’s opening track ‘Peace of Mind’.

Filled with haunting melodies and echoing guitars, ‘Peace of Mind’ is a beautifully textured and immersive offering. Blending elements of indie and alternative rock with hints of new-wave, Grip the Raven have concocted a distinctive sound that I’ve, quite frankly, fallen completely in love with.

Evoking the early work of bands like R.E.M. and The Smiths, with a particular focus on the vocal talent of Michael Stipe, Marc and Todd also lean into more contemporary inspirations like Interpol and The National. Truthfully, it’s a seamless fusion of the songs that defined my youth, and I can’t wait to dive into the entire album!

Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Peace of Mind’ on Spotify now:
