Oscillating between power pop, psychedelia and modern indie influences, ‘Strawberry Moon’ is as eclectic and playful as the large number of talents behind it. Featuring eleven relatable and evocative pieces, the album is Erro’s first full-length effort, and as such it is pretty impressive, especially when taking into account the cohesive sonic material and deep songwriting flair in it. The title track opens the record with a certain nostalgic character, especially blinking an eye to the folk-rock of the 70s.
‘Golden’ introduces smooth soul-rock vibes, with a certain cathartic energy to it. Further on, episodes such as ‘La Mia Dea 2.0’ highlight the project’s groovy and dancy potential, something that does come out from time to time throughout the album. If you are looking for stripped-back, mellow vibes, ‘Ghost of You’ will gladly cater to it. Overall, ‘Strawberry Moon’ is highly varied, never obvious and above all, very human and organic – everything has been played and recorded by a human.
Hailing from Pittsburgh, Erro is guided by the creative mind of Nikki Stagel, taking on the main songwriting role as well as coordinating the collaborative action that ultimately makes the project the rich musical outfit it is.
