Domax and josafat Share Edgy Collaborative EP

We are very impressed by what we are hearing in ‘Bar Italia’. Packing a charmingly lo-fi, vintage yet leftfield sonic imprint, the piece takes inspiration from a number of genres and references, travelling parallel electronic avenues and a distinct disco-funk character. UK producers such as Redinho come to mind, along with bigger names such as Aphex Twin and Squarepusher.

Ultimately, this is a project that likes to play its own original game, which means that both Domax and josafat are building their own artistic universe. It works: framed into their wider collaborative EP ‘Domax Josafat’, their music moves onto a more industrial, glitch-powered direction, showcasing a depth of field and musical fervour that’s very hard to match for anyone else.

An artistic endeavour born in London, the project is guided by Max O’Donnell (The Streets, Kathy Sledge) and Andy Kremer (Incognito) posing as Domax, and Sicilian producer and mixer Alessandro La Barbera (Sans Soucis, Davide Shorty), here showcasing his alter ego josafat. It’s a collaborative effort that’s rewarding and visionary, and we can’t wait to hear more from them.
