‘Singing A Song About Christmas’ is not just another festive record. It’s considerably deeper and more meaningful, focusing on an aspect of the festivities that we all tend to forget about: the homeless population. While many of us are staying cosy in warm homes, surrounded by family, the less fortunate are out there suffering through what’s probably one of the roughest times of the year.
English songwriter and singer Laurie Lewin knows it very well, and after being struck by the harsh reality of being a homeless person during Christmas, he decided to embark on a lyrical representation of how such a reality must feel and be like. ‘Singing A Song About Christmas’ summarizes that entire experience, finally released into the world under the guise of a heartwarming, poignant festive record.
A talented artist and a keen charity agent, Lewin also promotes his own music-related initiative, called ‘Voices Around The World’. As one would expect, all proceeds from ‘Singing A Song About Christmas’ go to charities Shelter and Crisis At Christmas. As he explains: “My wish is that the song makes us all think a bit and reach out to help some of these folks in some way shape or form. All proceeds from the song will go to charities for the homeless.”
