Emerging from the dissolution of Bristol’s much-loved act Bravo Brave Bats, Kyle and the Juggernaut was initially conceived as a bedroom project by singer/songwriter and drummer Ieuan Pearse. Now a five-member strong outfit, the band recently put out their second single in the form of ‘The Passenger Seat’, a beautifully fashioned piece of hard-hitting indie-rock I’d like to share with you today.
Full of life, colour, and energy, Kyle and the Jugernaut’s latest offering is seriously polished and high-quality. It truly feels like the perfect tune in so many ways, and I envision its listening reach expanding far beyond the band’s hometown. Ben Shillabeer and Cian Rance both put on scintillating guitar performances and the vocal interplay between Ieuan and Lissie Foulds injects a sense of urgency and charm that is simply addictive.
“‘The Passenger Seat’ captures a moment. The one you realise that the others are cooler than you,” says the outfit on the meaning behind the track. “It feels like a teenage moment – the sort you shed as you emerge into adult life and become more comfortable in your own skin.”
After selling out their debut gig to promote ‘The Passenger Seat’, Kyle and the Juggernaut promise more live shows next year. Don’t sleep on this act!
