We don’t often jump into American politics – an actual minefield, in terms of controversial topics and strong opinions – but we’ll make an exception for Boston-based storyteller faSade, seeking to share a positive political message in favour of gun control legislation. In other words, he’s not convinced about the so-called ‘freedom’ concerning the right to bear arms.
‘Freedom to Carry (Is Not Free)’ covers exactly that. Shipped with a visually striking music video, the record investigates the true cost of a libertine policy towards firearms. In essence a protest song, the record is also pretty melancholic and gloomy at times, remembering the many instances of school shootings and mass disasters throughout U.S. history. Willing to get his voice heard, faSade shares a resonating message that’s likely to inspire listeners worldwide – just as it inspired us.
Speaking about the importance of activism in art, he explains: “I believe that art, including music, is the perfect form of activism that allows the artist to change the minds of listeners through lyrics, melodies, and images that resonate in their hearts.”
