It took us a while to fully grasp the meaningful ethos behind Proxevita. Hailing from North Carolina, the American outfit is not purely a musical project, instead covering a wider, more holistic approach to art and the influence it can have on society and people in general. That’s one of the key points when analysing Proxevita’s nuanced musical offerings: their lyricism is strictly intertwined with their activism, promoting themes of sustainability, fairness and equality.
Notably, the group had the chance to perform during the United Nations COP29, at Climate Live Global (particularly made possible thanks to their sponsors at Rural Beacon Initiative). That’s where they belong: with a group of enthusiastic policymakers and thinkers aiming at bettering the course and pace of humanity.
‘Heart 2 Heart’ is Proxevita’s latest effort, a stunning slice of ethereal energy and bucolic prowess. Wrapped in an expansive, texture-packed instrumental, the record balances over leftfield electronica, dream pop and trip hop, eventually settling on a rather personal sonic direction. Laura Carisa Gardea’s angelic vocals are a perfect match for such a vibrant track. Andi Irving and Jovan ‘Chronos’ Taylor complete the talented lineup.
