The Muster Point Project Release Long-Awaited Album ‘It Was Here He Received His Only Formal Education’

It seems like every two months, I find myself singing the praises of Canadian indie act The Muster Point Project. Headed up by Kevin Franco, the outfit has become regulars around these parts – and we couldn’t be prouder to have them!

‘It Was Here He Received His Only Formal Education’ was an album I’d been desperately waiting to hear, after falling in love with all of its singles, and at the end of last month, the band delivered their third and possibly most compelling record yet. A twelve-track offering Kevin describes as “dealing in themes of remembrance, change, and loss,” ‘IWHHRHOFE’ feels like the culmination of everything I love about this project. Rich, heartfelt, and beautifully stitched-together tunes delivered by an act who’ve mastered turning emotion into music.

‘Don’t Give Me Anything’ is a dream opener. Highly infectious and upbeat, it sinks its teeth into you immediately before the more gentle and soothing sounds of ‘Nothing Ever Goes Away’ appear.

‘This Town Has Changed’, a song once described as “too rock for folk and too folk for rock”, is a nostalgia-laced gem, and ‘Old Black Suit’ is another newcomer that already feels like an old friend.

This, my friends, is where I leave you to experience the remaining eight tunes on your own. All I’ll say is that ‘IWHHRHOFE’ could well be my album of the year.
