We are now pretty bullish about Blitz Playhouse. After witnessing them live back in October, we can safely say the group is one of the most hypnotising, energetic and euphoric outfits we have come across in a long time. The connection they were able to establish with the crowd was electrifying, wrapping everyone into a sultry, psychedelic and hazy guitar-powered universe.
‘Ha Ha Ha’s’ is their latest effort. Following up on the previous EP ‘Behind The Veil’, Blitz Playhouse showcase their eclectic roots by embarking on a groovy, dance-inducing and oriental-flavoured masterpiece. Drawing inspiration from frontwoman Bella Geiwald’s Persian roots, the London-based group builds a compelling and hypnotising anthem, jumping from trip-hop to shoegaze, from psychedelia to noisy textures.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Geiwald explains: “This song is a tribute to the strength it takes to offer love ‘with a wink and a smile’ while battling personal demons. To me, it’s about the teachers, healers, and shamans among us who struggle to find their place in a society that doesn’t always recognize their worth, or give them a seat at the table.”
