We are rather familiar with the holistic, quirky artistry of British songstress Ruby Tingle. Yet, every time we delve into one of her new records, a limitless universe of sonic possibilities opens up. Highly cathartic and nuanced, Tingle crafts pieces that are mysterious, bucolic and highly hypnotising, wrapping the listeners in spacious, expansive tones and elegant, luscious vocals. ‘Here To Nest’ fits that same exact formula, once again reiterating the nuanced artistry enjoyed by the Manchester-based talent.
Supported by Arts Council England and championed by No Such Thing Records, Ruby Tingle has recently enjoyed a residency at The Met Theatre in Bury (Greater Manchester), a relevant stepping stone in her creative development. In fact, ‘Here To Nest’ seeks to crown that very same experience, together with previous singles ‘Dune Lovin’ and ‘Tropical Heart’.
Lyrically, ‘Here To Nest’ is as fragmented and intense as its overarching sonic livery, with Ruby delving into the difficulty of sustaining a long-distance relationship. Such a complicated theme is delivered with Tingle’s usual playful, quirky flair, making for a bucolic, dream-like listening experience.
