Why change a winning formula? That’s the vibe we get with ‘Cherry Peach’, the latest offering from guitarist, composer, producer, and artist we at Mesmerized really admire, Ari Joshua. Teaming up again with the legendary John Medeski, Billy Martin, and Jason Fraticelli, Ari and Co. go about concocting a retro, funky, swampy, and (as per usual) highly intriguing piece of music.
Fat organ tones, tight drum grooves, Medeski’s graceful keyboard layers, and Ari’s Hendrix-style fuzzy guitar are the order of the day on ‘Cherry Peach’. It’s a seriously rocking and soulful tune – holding the listener in its grasp for the full three minutes and twenty seconds.
“I’ve been listening to MMW (Medeski, Martin, and Wood) since I was in high school, so it was like being a kid in a candy store working with these familiar legendary artists,” says Ari. Then again, I get the feeling others are starting to feel similarly when it comes to the man himself.
Mixed by Jeff Fielder (Mark Lanegan, Indigo Girls) and mastered by the celebrated engineer Ed Brooks, ‘Cherry Peach’ is another fine track for Ari to proudly add to his ever-expanding discography. And yup, you guessed it, we can’t wait to hear from him again!
