‘Bunnie and Jelly’ is undoubtedly one of the most interesting tunes I’ve heard this year. Courtesy of Washington-based rocker and musical virtuoso Jeremy penick, the raw and gritty tune draws inspiration from the heartfelt relationship of Bunnie XO and country music star Jelly Roll. Described by the artist as a “rock song with a grit and sexiness to it and a nostalgic feel,” ‘Bunnie and Jelly’ is an anthemic and hard-hitting track filled with retro guitar riffs and a seriously groovy beat.
Recorded in the musician’s home studio and mastered by Joe Bozzi (U2, The Afghan Whigs, Outkast), Jeremy’s latest offering tells a story of love, passion, and building an empire together. It’s uniquely bold, imaginative, and infectious, unveiling a tune that makes you stop what you’re doing and listen. I believe there’s something to be said about a track that stops you in your tracks…But maybe that’s just me.
A stalwart of the music industry, Jeremy penick formed the Geffen Records-signed Depswa in the late 90s and worked alongside the legendary Linda Perry at Kungfu Studios. Now ready to showcase his own sound and style, I get the feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more from him very soon!
