Eliza Roe Returns with Introspective Single ‘Ethereal Junkie’

A prolific and expert songwriter, Eliza Roe has mastered the art of collaboration. A quick glimpse at her Spotify profile reveals a popular series of records shared with producers such as Audiobot, Kid Lizard, Lucian, and Caleb Welch, among others. In a way, Roe doesn’t shy away from eclecticism, finding her identity in the evocative energy of her vocals.

Now, the Los Angeles-based songstress returns with ‘Ethereal Junkie’, a single that’s more introspective and personal than its predecessors. Featuring New York-based artist Kevin Kim, ‘Ethereal Junkie’ is wonderfully alternative and dark, with noisy, industrial textures wrapping Roe’s cathartic vocals into an unusual, yet fitting artistic marriage. The result is a vibrant record that’s unique and quirky – exactly what we love to hear from such a gifted artist.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Ethereal Junkie’, Eliza explains: “It was written in a period of my life (2018) where I felt like I was in a fishbowl, but I actually find it hopefully melancholic all these years later. We shelved it for so many years and then all of a sudden, it just felt like it was the right time to release it.”
