Norwegian Songstress SIKADE Shares Evocative Gem ‘bloody moon’

We feel incredibly lucky to have discovered SIKADE. One of Norway’s best-kept secrets (not for long, we reckon), the young songstress champions a truly cathartic and bucolic ethos, layering intimate and deep songwriting over soothing harp and cello tones. Wrapping them with a healthy dose of electronic textures, SIKADE crafts a compelling sonic package, one that’s wonderfully dreamy and ethereal.

‘bloody moon’ is the Norwegian creative’s latest effort, following up from her debut ‘orion’, released earlier this year. In it, we find all the elements that make the project so good and special: from SIKADE’s delicate, evocative vocals to the generous amounts of leftfield soundscapes, passing through hypnotising harp sections (performed by SIKADE herself) to cello bits (recorded by Kristina Fadeeva).

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘bloody moon’, Linnea Vestre (the human behind the project) explains: “Time and space are suspended as a woman finds herself face to face with her future daughter. A moon hangs bleeding above them, and an ambulance sounds in the distance.”
