There’s always been something special in Skysia’s artistry. A nuanced producer and composer, he makes it a point to craft incredibly ethereal material, packed with cathartic energy and spiritual force. At times, one can spot him indulging in darker bass-inspired releases, showcasing the quality and complexity of his production skills. Now, Skysia looks to involve a number of fellow creatives in remixing his previous EP ‘Overture’.
Murkury is one of them. Choosing ‘Aperture’ as his favourite piece on the record, he takes the track into punchier territories, giving it a drum and bass flavouring that fits Skysia’s textures and cinematic sound design very well. In fact, Murkury is very mindful in his actions, still retaining the ethereal character that’s so central to the original artist’s aesthetic.
Speaking about the EP of remixes, Skysia explains: “I handpicked some of my favourite producers to finish off the ‘Overture’ story. 7 incredible remixes that expand on the original so beautifully. Each track flows perfectly into the next. The remix album is full of diverse soundscapes and new yet familiar worlds.” We can confirm that the record is very hypnotising and… mesmerising. It does fit our publication very well, doesn’t it?
