OLYM is something of an enigma. For starters, we don’t know their real name. All we know is that they’re an indie artist living and working in New York. What we can say for certain, however, is that their latest single ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ is a certified winner from start to finish!
Having previously dabbled in the territories of nu-disco and EDM, OLYM now introduces a new direction to their sound. Described by the musician as a “happy-sad vibe with mellow instrumentation”, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ is a dreamy and laidback little number that just hits all the right notes. It’s also the perfect soundscape for the artist’s smooth and velvety vocals to take centre stage – right where they belong!
“The song is about getting over someone and learning something new about yourself,” says OLYM. “It’s a song about looking back and realising that you are not the same person anymore and maybe it’s a good thing”.
Inspired by Sam Smith, Madonna, Hurts, and Adele, OLYM has successfully concocted a personal sound that has universal resonance. And, at the end of the day, isn’t that what it’s all about?
