Playfully titled ‘Dear Boy’, Love Ghost’s latest record marks a further chapter in the American talent’s long history of releases featuring Mexican artists. This time around is RAYBEN who gets thrown into the mix; a popular performer and DJ, the Mexican star helps Love Ghost create an evocative, hard-hitting piece, a timeless hit balanced between edgy production and relatable lyricism.
Of course, none of that is surprising: the Los Angeles-based creative has long showcased his nuanced artistry, always with a certain eclecticism too. One might find Love Ghost in electronic pop territories, but also indulging in pop-punk styling and hip-hop influences. There’s one constant, and it’s Ghost’s shiny vocal flow and his raw, deep tone. On this occasion, RAYBEN’s uplifting voice compliments him perfectly.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Dear Boy’, Love Ghost explains: “Dear boy came together effortlessly. Upon meeting Rayben, she had amazing energy and I felt like we intuitively just “got” each other. We knew exactly the type of song we wanted to make. Dear Boy is Baz Luhrman’s Romeo and Juliet but with more of a SoundCloud mix. We’re very excited to share this one.”
