There’s something truly refreshing in Adrie’s artistry. Perhaps it is the eclectic blend of Western and Latin elements, clashing together and blooming into something new and elegant. Whichever way you look at it, the Los Angeles-based songstress has it all: class, charisma, but also groove and dance-inducing euphoria. ‘Bring Back The Light’ is her latest effort, a stunningly vibrant record that confirms everything we said about her.
A collaboration with Chilean creative Rulo – an important figure in Latin funk and hip-hop – ‘Bring Back The Light’ builds its irresistible identity over Adrie’s Spanish and Mexican roots, transforming itself into a wonderful track packed with Latin grooves, a warm and jazz-flavoured piano, and Adrie and Rulo’s authentic vocals, constantly balancing between English and Spanish lyricism.
Such cultural tension – a positive one – wraps the listeners into a sonic experience unlike anything they have heard before, marking the collaboration between the two artists as a great success. As Adrie explains: “I love creating projects that combine my cinematic references with my way of understanding music, and being able to do that with this song was a very gratifying experience. This is the first preview of my conceptual album and the first piece of a puzzle that I will be unveiling in the coming months, and I’m very excited.”
‘Bring Back The Light’ also features a music video, shot in Madrid with a women-led team, directed by Maia De Zan Hatch.
