An expansive, cathartic single, ‘Cait’ sees Ben Dey returning to the global scenes after ‘Still You’, released earlier this year. While the previous effort was uplifting and groovy, ‘Cait’ instead takes a mellower path, blooming into a soothing and poignant Folk gem. In this case, we’d call it African Folk, seeing Dey’s South African influences and eclectic roots.
Genre boxes aside, the track is simply a joy to listen to. Slowly expanding on a marching rhythm, ‘Cait’ develops into an anthemic and evocative gem, with Ben’s warm and melodious vocals delivering a tale of humanity, nostalgia and blissful love. It’s a compelling package, which we can’t really resist.
Known for his past militancy in the South African group Ben Dey and the Concrete Lions, the talented singer-songwriter boasts a large musical experience, largely accumulated via touring with seminal acts such as The Parlatones and Callum Scott. Now focusing on his solo project, Dey is gearing up for an upcoming album. ‘Cait’ showcases all the potential he can deliver, and honestly, we are expecting big things from him.
