We have been longing for something fresh, amidst pop and indie scenes that have cemented around clichés and viral formulas. Someone delivered: ‘Lost on You’ is a surprisingly exciting, bubbly and playful anthem, a track that’s zesty and fresh, very contemporary yet unlike anything else heard before. Proud authors of such a gem are Isla Rico, an upcoming indie outfit from England, UK.
We are unfortunately late on appreciating the project; already noticed by a large group of media outlets and tastemakers, the band is currently taking their lush guitar tones all around the country. It’s easy to imagine a bright future for Isla Rico, and frankly, they truly deserve it. Anyway: getting back to ‘Lost on You’, what’s noticeable is the balance between psych, shoegaze tones and more grounded indie rock elements, making for a sonic formula that’s original, yet somehow familiar.
Proud members of Isla Rico are Cal Richards (vocals, guitar), Jasper Whitehead (lead guitar, keys), and Harvey Rafferty (guitar, vocals). Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Lost on You’, Richard explains: “We wanted to capture the love-hate relationship that’s always apparent when reflecting on decisions. It’s about chasing the unknown, even when you know it might not be right for you.”
