Mimi Pretend Shares Dreamy Cover of The Rolling Stones’ ‘Dead Flowers’

At the beginning of this year, I got completely lost in a dreamy and ethereal EP called ‘Colorado 1996’. Courtesy of Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Miriam Nissan, who performs as Mimi Pretend, the hazy and mellow offering has stuck firmly by my side the entire year. I hope, now that you know this, you’ll understand my excitement – as just a few hours ago, Mimi delivered a cover of The Rolling Stones’ classic ‘Dead Flowers’.

“I really wanted to do a cover of a classic song,” said the artist. “But make it into a really dreamy and slow but also distorted and heavy shoegaze song”. Mission accomplished! Mimi’s take on ‘Dead Flowers’ is absolutely phenomenal. A mesmerizing fusion of dream-pop and shoegaze, the soft and gooey rendition transforms the original into an immersive dreamscape.

The tune was mastered by legendary engineer Christopher Colbert, (Mazzy Star, Nathaniel Rateliff, Pedro the Lion) who provided a polished warmth to complement the track’s raw underbelly.

Delivering another captivating and emotionally charged sonic experience, Mimi Pretend is fast becoming one of my go-to artists for those moments when I simply need music to just melt over me. If you know what I mean…You’ll know it’s the highest of compliments.

Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Dead Flowers’ on Spotify now:
