The musical knowledge of Gabriel, my fellow writing partner in crime, never ceases to amaze me. He’s introduced me to some truly unbelievable music, and one such example is a Chicago-based artist and producer who goes by the name Ozzient. An eclectic and multidisciplined musician who is generally collaborating, Ozzient now offers up his debut solo project in the form of ‘Chill Thrills’.
“I wanted to evoke calmness, tranquillity, nostalgia, soothing, relaxing, and chilled vibes”, says Ozzient, referring to his latest EP. And, for the first three tunes, the producer does exactly that!
‘Nostalgic Feelingz’ sets the scene with an unbelievably hypnotic lo-fi atmosphere. A track that melts around you like a warm sonic blanket, it’s a blissful start to proceedings.
‘Soothing Vibez’ follows a similar vein to its predecessor, offering a rich and gooey experience, before ‘Calming Moodz’ takes listeners on a darker, more sinister path – perfectly paving the way for the EP’s closing song.
“The last track ‘Chill Thrills’ was fun and exciting for me to produce,” says Ozzient. And I believe him! It’s one of the most interesting and fearless pieces of music I’ve heard in a long time. It needs to be listened to to be fully understood, and I urge you to take the time. A killer release all all-round!
