Mohawk Castle Returns with Dreamy Gem ‘Crawl To Me’

We got to know Mohawk Castle earlier this year, describing one of his tracks – ‘Cold Beat’ – as “blissful and spacious”. That was quite a quirky single, showcasing the bold creativity and leftfield flair of the Long Beach-based talent. Well, it looks like those qualities are still very much intact, with Mohawk Castle now unveiling ‘Crawl To Me’, a dreamy and highly ethereal episode which further shines a light over the project’s nuanced sonic landscape.

Introduced by light and spacious textures, the record wraps the listeners in bucolic settings, embracing floaty evocative vocals and glitchy noises. The song’s intensity increases over a three-minute span, eventually resolving into a glorious display of leftfield electronica and dream pop influence. In fact, it’s relatively hard to pinpoint what we just heard to a precise genre. Mirroring its production style, the track floats between the many references and its inspiration.

The moniker of DIY artist Erik David Hidde, ‘Crawl To Me’ was reportedly made over nine months, and finds its lyrical roots in deep messages of resilience and personal growth. As Hidd explains: “‘Crawl to Me’ is about moving forward in life instead of giving up when life gets tough. Being reliant on God and not man. This is a song about breaking generational curses.”
