While it may not come across much, I actually am something of a metalhead. I grew up on a steady diet of Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Iron Maiden, and the genre has always held a special place in my heart. With this in mind, please welcome Sydney-based metalcore act Forever at Midnight and their brand new single ‘When You Wake’. “Amidst writing fun and energetic songs, I just wanted to create something deadlier,” says guitarist Josh Kim. “Coincidentally, I was playing around with lower drop tunings and the main riff was born”.
Finding lyrical inspiration in previously abusive and manipulating relationships, Liv tells a harrowing tale of gaslighting, coercion, and isolation. It’s passionate stuff, and it invites listeners to confront their demons while rocking out to its fierce sound.
