Generally, we try to look at the future, always searching for the next big thing. Sometimes though, it can be valuable to stop and take a good look at what once was. For Scouse singer-songwriter Only Child, what once was is 10 years filled with music and records, 10 years of inspired storytelling and poignant tones. Driving a personal style framed at the crossroad between Folk and Americana, the Liverpool-based talent dive into old records by releasing a vinyl re-issue of selected tracks from his catalogue. All re-mastered by legend Pete Maher (U2).
‘Bruce’ leads the charge as the album’s lead single. In it, you’ll find a touching flow of acoustic guitars and mellow drums, all concurring in creating the perfect musical bed for Only Child’s evocative vocals, never too punchy or overpowering, always considerate of their context. The listener will connect with the song instantly: ‘Bruce’ is a passionate, hopeful anthem in favour of finding the silver lining in every situation, focusing on the stuff that takes us forward.
The album ‘LOOKING FORWARD TO LOOKING BACK’ is published by newly launched record label Crosstown Records, marking its first-ever release.
Overall, a worthy reminder of why Only Child should be on your daily playlist. Recommended!
