We were writing about Bristol-based creative Einsam not long ago, celebrating the project’s previous single ‘Fill Your Boots (More Life)’ as a “cathartic sonic formula”. Now, the British producer and songwriter returns with ‘Motivation’, further building up the expectations for the upcoming album ‘Actionism’. With ‘Motivation’, Einsam trades groovy and leftfield elements for a more conventional song-based structure.
We used the word ‘conventional’ to describe a rather linear lyrical build, but in reality, the single is far from being conventional: packed with a catchy and poignant chorus, the track is a true dreamy anthem, using indie-pop stylings with unique charisma and imagination. The result is a meaningful and uplifting gem, a record that would resuscitate the dead, with an overly electrifying profile.
‘Motivation’ was namely inspired by boxer Floyd Patterson, using his story of stardom and subsequent downfall to empower sentiments of resilience and personal strength. As Einsam explains: “Patterson was once the youngest heavyweight champion before coming to be called ‘The Loser’ – an extraordinary guy who knows so much about loss and feeling out of place.”
