‘Coming Right at You’ is the warm and laidback new single from London-based singer/songwriter David Goundry. It’s also the first we’ve heard from the artist in three years, and it feels like a quiet yet meaningful return to the scene.
An uplifting pop-rock tune at its core, there’s a richness and comfort to David’s latest offering that harks back to the golden era of acoustic-driven anthems. Working alongside veteran session guitarist Hugh Burns, (Paul McCartney, Gerry Rafferty) Goundry crafts a track that honestly feels like an old friend. As far as vocal performances go, the musician exudes a calm intensity, and his delivery is both effortless and timeless simultaneously.
Serving as the first new song from David’s forthcoming album, scheduled for release on the first of next month, ‘Coming Right at You’ was engineered and produced by another industry stalwart in the form of Nik Sykes (Average White Band, Cliff Richard).
With so much talent surrounding him, David Goundry offers up a tune that suggests something of a promise: there’s plenty more to come, and it’ll have been worth the wait.
