Tatum Gale Shares Stunning Pop Jewel ‘800m’

There’s something incredibly elegant in ‘800m’: built over disco, synthwave and nostalgic pop influences, the track is rather dreamy and hypnotising in its sonic character, a perfect pairing to its melancholic and expressive lyricism. Tatum Gale is the talented creative behind such a powerful piece. Hailing from New Orleans, the young troubadour produced the record himself, showcasing some truly nuanced sound design skills.

You see, ‘800m’ is not your typical pop record. There’s a distinct eclecticism that brings it to life, almost a leftfield energy that maintains the single palatable to both mainstream and niche audiences. The saxophone solo is an absolute highlight and the biggest evidence of Gale’s good taste in music. His vocals are the perfect fit for such a vaporous production.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘800m’, Tatum explains: “The song is an outreach to someone close to me and an offering of support. In this case, I actually wrote it with my sister in mind: she ran the 800 in high school, and I remember watching from the sidelines, wanting to telekinetically pass along extra energy to push her to the front.”
