Completing his trilogy of albums, ‘Impossible Man’ is the brand new record from New Hampshire-based singer/songwriter Todd Hearon, and it’s an absolute beauty! A fusion of Americana and indie-folk sounds, the stunning eleven-track offering is a masterclass in storytelling and a journey through life’s trials wrapped in lush, acoustic warmth.
‘Deadman’s Cove’ kicks things off with a country-ish aura and Todd’s whiskeyed vocals. The addition of a pedal steel guitar provided by Sam Wilson infuses the tune with a haunting and soulful depth that gives the track a timeless character. The perfect start!
‘A Dark Place’ is an introspective and atmospheric offering, blending spoken word and singing parts that pull the listener into its reflective core, before ‘Looking Glass’ tells a gripping tale of being in love with a narcissist.
‘Paper Flowers’ provides a sonically upbeat background for a song that Todd says is “for a friend from another life,” while ‘Guillotine,’ the album’s third single, showcases Hearon’s incredible vocal range and proficiency.
The remaining five tunes are just as good as their predecessors, and ‘Impossible Man’ is a record I find myself falling deeper in love with each time I put it on. A true masterpiece, I can’t wait to hear what Todd Hearon gets up to next!
