Nebno Returns with Cathartic Ambient Piece ‘The Garden’

Whether or not you find Nebno’s artistic outlook interesting, will be down to how you envision music as a concept. For us, music is a stream of frequencies hitting our brain, evoking an emotional response. That’s the underlying idea, at least. That’s why we find ‘The Garden’ so interesting: even though the piece is an ambient record heavy on textures and abstract sound design, it still manages to be as communicative as possible, wrapping the listeners into a listening experience that’s introspective and meaningful.

Growing in intensity over almost four minutes, ‘The Garden’ introduces layer after layer of soundscapes, until it all comes together into noisy distortions and ethereal tones. Nebno’s vocal harmonies are incredibly spiritual and divine, floating over the sonic matter like an otherworldly chant. This is going to be the soundtrack to one’s personal reckoning. It does also showcase the brilliant artistic prowess enjoyed by the Swiss songstress and producer. As a reminder, she already impressed us earlier this year with ‘Love Is a Special Thing’, a diverse effort built on a slightly more conventional formula.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘The Garden’, Nebno explains: “Hear the echoes of ancient questions, whispered on the winds of uncertainty. ‘The Garden’ beckons us to confront our fears and doubts, as we embrace the unknown with courage and grace.”
