Francesca Pichierri Shares Cathartic and Meaningful Gem ‘Gelo’

An incredibly meaningful and cathartic offering, ‘Gelo’ can be considered a multi-layered record. First, there’s the sonic layer: guided by the expert and malleable vocals of Italian songstress Francesca Pichierri, the song reaches glorious heights, wrapping the listeners into a stunning, emotional ballad with a strong melancholic outlook. The instrumental flavouring is elegant, with soulful and jazz influences helping ‘Gelo’ explode into a pumping experimental outro.

Then, there’s the lyrical layer, and it’s here that we can appreciate Pichierri’s artistic commitment. Released on September 20th, the song seeks to celebrate World Gynecologic Oncology Day, deeply connecting to Francesca’s personal experience. Coming to terms with her mother’s ovarian cancer diagnosis, the talented creative seeks to raise awareness of the disease while working on her own trauma.

‘Cellule Stronze’ is Pichierri’s upcoming album, which will greatly expand ‘Gelo’s lyrical premise. As she explains: “It narrates the story of my mother’s ongoing journey with ovarian cancer and aims to raise awareness about gynaecological cancers and the importance of prevention.”
